Amblin’

(1969)

Directed by Steven Spielberg

34 minutes

YEAH, SO this is a great film to study to better understand the “genius” that is Steven Spielberg; all the shot setups are wonderful, unique and flamboyant; the editing is terrific, and based on the shots you can see Spielberg already knew how it would be cut while he was shooting; the music and sound design are the leads are great, even with no dialogue, they are perfectly, if hyperbolically–which is his signature–directed. And what about that ending? What was in the suitcase? That look on her face of epiphany, disappointment and understanding, all at once! What did she see?
